STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

My wandering eye works well in a city with a serious staring problem. I can’t help but look people straight in the eye and watch their furrowed brows make silent decisions. Loud exhales of smoke, dramatic altercations, and wide eyes deciding whether or not to judge. What lovely chaos to capture – the unapologetic raw beauty of Paris.

Pick a stranger, any stranger, and watch them until a made-up narrative on their life story has creatively made its way into your head. This was my favorite game until the age of hyper-stimulation. Picking up my camera and putting down my phone brought this game back to life. The old man smoking a cigarette is an artist who has never released his work, he will be praised for his talent after he dies. The woman with the umbrella has just killed her boyfriend the Sunday prior and thinks I’m an undercover investigator. The crows are my imagination playing tricks on me.

In California, I’d Say “Sorry for Staring”
